McDermott & Bull Finds Vice President of Finance at South Coast Community Services

IRVINE, California, July 14, 2017McDermott & Bull, one of the largest executive search firms within the Hunt Scanlon Top 50 Recruiters list, as well as one of Forbes’ Best Executive Recruiting Firms, is pleased to announce the successful appointment of Gil Garcia as Vice President, Finance with South Coast Community Services (SCCS), a non-profit organization that provides therapy and counseling services to at-risk children, youth, and families.

This executive recruiting engagement was conducted by The fit Practice at McDermott & Bull, which includes Jason Pinegar, Associate Principal Consultant; Jeff Black, Partner; Trey Mullen, Associate Consultant; and Kelly Nguyen, Executive Search Associate.  According to Pinegar, “SCCS does an incredible amount of good for thousands of children and their families.  We are certain that Gil will prove to be a tremendous financial leader in helping the organization continue forward on its impressive growth trajectory, with an added ability to affect meaningful change in the communities they serve.”

Over the course of his career, Garcia has led a variety of organizations in improving policies and procedures, reporting accuracy and utility, and systems.  His most recent experience in a non-profit health services environment, combined with his long-time work as CFO for larger high growth companies, brings great value.  Prior to joining SCCS, Garcia served as Chief Financial Officer of LK Health, Cingular Staffing, and EC Hispanic Media.

Garcia received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Loyola Marymount University.

McDermott & Bull Recruits Chief Operating Officer for Hoffman Southwest Corporation

IRVINE, California, July 10, 2017McDermott & Bull, one of the largest executive search firms within the Hunt Scanlon Top 50 Recruiters list, as well as one of Forbes’ Best Executive Recruiting Firms, is pleased to announce the successful appointment of Rick Smith as Chief Operating Officer with Hoffman Southwest Corporation (HSW), a company providing water flow solutions to various end markets.

This executive recruiting engagement was conducted by Chris Bull, Managing Partner; Rob Gross, Associate Principal Consultant; and Laurie Henderson, Recruiting Consultant at McDermott & Bull.  According to Bull, “Rick is experienced in on-demand distributed work forces, understands the flexibility one must operate under in emergency businesses, and is keen on staying in front of customers to grow the bottom line.  We look forward to seeing him thrive at HSW.”

Following an active deployment in Iraq with the Marine Corps, where he led platoons of over 100, Smith had an opportunity to join SourceOne.  In his first few weeks as an Assistant Controller, he was tasked with the integration of Johnson Controls bolt-on acquisition.  Following Veolia’s strategic acquisition of SourceOne in 2007, Smith was a key player in the post-acquisition integration and growth of the finance & accounting function.  Due to this success, in 2010, Veolia management handpicked him to lead and launch the company’s West Coast operation.  Most recently, Smith served as VP of Operations of the company’s Southern California territory.

Smith received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University and his MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.

McDermott & Bull Places Corporate Controller at Sunworks

This executive recruiting engagement was conducted by the The fit Practice at McDermott & Bull, which includes Jeff Black, Partner; Jason Pinegar, Associate Principal Consultant; Trey Mullen, Associate Consultant; and Kelly Nguyen, Executive Search Associate.  According to Black, “Phil is a highly skilled Corporate Controller with deep public accounting experience and a niche for mergers and acquisitions.  He is also a Sacramento native and an ideal culture fit for the Sunworks team.”

Radmilovic knew he wanted to be in the Finance & Accounting Industry from a young age, describing himself as “a numbers guy.”  He brings five years of public accounting experience with him, along with work experience in both the private and public sector.  Prior to joining Sunworks, Radmilovic worked at Oracle, serving as Senior Manager, Purchase Accounting and then Finance Director – Regional Controller, North America.

Radmilovic received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accountancy, and Corporate Financial Management from Cal State University of Chico.  He graduated Cum Laude in 2004 and holds an active CPA License.
